Since 1996, Avail has provided qualified, compassionate, confidential care to people facing unintended pregnancies and processing a past abortion. Today, our care platforms offer self-guided and facilitated programs focused on providing support wherever someone is on their journey.
We know firsthand that pregnancy is deeply personal, especially when it’s unintended. The experience impacts every aspect of people’s lives, from their emotional health and
economic plans to existing relationships and everyday rhythms.
Our mission is to help women and their partners navigate one of life’s hardest moments
and make confident decisions, and envision futures of hope and possibilities that
consider every aspect of their well-being.
Our Christian faith forms the foundation of our care ethic. We treat every person who walks through our doors with dignity, compassion, and respect. Every human being carries inherent value, and we are committed to providing care that reflects the grace and truth, love and strength we ourselves have received through Christ.
We are looking for compassionate male and female volunteers to serve on our Client Care Team, supporting clients in one-on-one and group settings as they navigate parenting, seek support after an abortion, and navigate relationships.
Volunteer Description:
Volunteers in Avail’s direct client care programs will provide compassionate, qualified, and confidential support to individuals enrolled in Avail’s programs. We offer both in-person and remote services, including one-on-one advocacy, group support, and classes. Volunteers will commit to the following:
- Active Listening: Listen empathetically to clients' stories, needs, and goals, demonstrating genuine care and understanding.
- Build Relationships: Establish trusting and supportive relationships with clients from various backgrounds, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their concerns.
- Provide Resources: Connect clients to a wide range of resources and referrals, as well as connect them to other Avail programs and services as needed.
- Goal Setting: Help assess client needs and support them in setting both long and short-term goals that help them flourish.
- Accurate Reporting: Ensure that all client information is kept confidential and reported accurately (proficiency using computers is necessary).
- Avail Policies: Volunteers will be asked to sign and complete required documents, including completing a background check and confidentiality agreement.
- Commitment: We ask all volunteers to commit to a minimum of one year of service for two hours per week.
- Specific volunteer opportunities may require experience in counseling, facilitating groups, or other specific qualifications.
Specific Requirements for this Opportunity: Female Volunteers are needed to walk with individuals who are processing a past abortion experience. Volunteers in this program must have experienced abortion(s) and/or have counseling or social work experience. Both one-on-one advocacy and group advocacy are needed.
For all volunteer opportunities, extensive training from Avail’s Client Team is provided. We are thankful for your interest in Avail! If you are passionate about our mission and possess the required skills and commitment, we encourage you to apply.
