YoungLives NYC Fall Weekend Camp

Our Fall Weekend Camp gives teen moms an opportunity to step away from their everyday responsibilities, have fun, strengthen relationships with their mentors, and hear about the love of Jesus. Childcare volunteers make this possible by providing safe, nurturing care for their children during scheduled camp activities. YoungLives identifies childcare volunteers as essential to the camp experience because their service allows moms to fully participate in camp.

As a childcare volunteer, you will:

• Provide loving and attentive care for babies and young children during designated childcare times.
• Help with feeding, diapering, playtime, comforting, and other basic childcare needs.
• Follow YoungLives childcare, sanitation, safety, and nursery procedures.
• Work as part of a childcare team and follow the direction of nursery and camp leadership.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming childcare environment.
• Pray for the children and their moms throughout the weekend.
• Encourage our teen moms by treating them and their children with kindness, patience, dignity, and respect.
• Participate in childcare team meetings, devotions, and instructions as scheduled.

Why This Role Matters

This role is more than babysitting. When you care for a teen mom's child, you give her the freedom to experience camp as a teenager. She can participate in activities, spend meaningful time with her mentor, build friendships, hear the Gospel, and have space to consider what a relationship with Jesus could mean for her life. Your ministry may happen in a nursery, but your impact reaches far beyond it. By loving her child well, you are loving and serving her too.

We're looking for volunteers who are dependable, patient, flexible, nurturing, team-oriented, comfortable caring for babies and young children, and willing to serve wherever needed.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who understand that caring for these children is an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus through service.

YoungLives describes camp childcare as both practical and spiritual care, including praying for the children, their moms, mentor relationships, safety, and for young women to encounter the love of Jesus.
